The Primary School

With its classrooms located in the western building, the Primary School is fully equipped with its own library containing 27,000 books, computer labs, science labs, drama, music, vocational and art rooms, and a reading room.

In the Primary Stage, we aim to develop our students in all areas while emphasizing character building, social skills development and research skills in addition to academia.

Arabic and English Proficiency

It is crucial that children start at an early age to attain a high level of proficiency in both Arabic and English. For this purpose, subjects are taught in Arabic and English and our students demonstrate their competitive spirit in spelling bee contests and reading and writing competitions in both languages.

Technology

Technology is integrated and applied on a daily basis. The interactive white board (IWB) is used in all classrooms to enrich and complement learning and to integrate it with real life. Different resources and websites are also used on the E-boards with a focus on cooperative learning and group work in addition to hands-on activities.

In addition to formal weekly computer lessons, students are offered several opportunities to develop their computing skills through various activities. Grade 5 students learn Arabic and English keyboarding, an essential skill for proficiency in computer usage. Grades 4 and 5 students prepare scientific research reports in Science and Social Studies through online research and PowerPoint presentations.

 Building Student Character

Students in Grades 1, 2 and 3 have show-and-tell presentations in Arabic and English. This develops early presentation skills, encourages public speech, builds self confidence and keeps students in touch with the latest technologies. Additionally, each class in the Primary stage prepares something to show to the other classes during our morning assembly.

Grade 4 students work with their Social Studies and Computer teachers to prepare their Country Reports to be presented on International Day; Grade 5 students work with their Science and Computer teachers to prepare science projects for our Science Fair.

Field trips are planned throughout the year to develop our young learners’ inquisitive nature and to enrich the material that is learned in class.

PERCAS (Personality, Creativity , Action and Service)

The PERCAS program, derived from the IB CAS Program and suitably tailored for this stage includes several artistic activities such as dance, art and drama.

Student Life

Costume parties, relay races, celebrations of different occasions, campaigns and School Themed Thursdays are among the several fun activities that our young students take part in throughout the year. Children also have the chance to participate in various after-school activities which include swimming and Little League.

Counseling

Each stage counselor plays a critical role in our students’ lives at all social, psychological and academic levels. S/he works with students, parents and teachers to design successful learning and social environments and to resolve a large range of student-related behavioral and academic issues.

Teacher Development and Training

Emphasis is placed on our teachers’ professional development as well. Internal and external workshops are held regularly by professionals in Jordan and overseas for our teachers to keep abreast with all that is new in the field of education.
